St John Rescue Corps’ Annual Review was held last Saturday the 25th of March. Various distinguished guests attended for this review including the Chairman of St John Association Malta, Dr Michael Frendo, and the Commander of St John Association Malta, Col Mark Mallia.
After the inspection of the Corps by Dr Frendo and Col Mallia, three rescue demonstrations were carried out: a Road Traffic Accident with an injured pedestrian, rescue from heights using a Larkin frame and an entry using Breathing Apparatus.
Following these demonstrations, guests were shown the various projects that the Corps has undertaken during this past year including; the project “Home Fire Safety” funded through the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector on behalf of the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties and the project “Equipment for Water Rescue Training” funded through the A4U Scheme managed by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport.
Certificates were then presented to members who had successfully completed training courses. Awards of Merit were given to two generous benefactors of the Corps in recognition of their help throughout these past years. The Corps also gave a memento to the donor who has kindly provided us with two AEDs.
The event was concluded by group photographs to mark the occasion.
