On the 13th of August, members of the St John Rescue Corps (SJRC) joined the DLRG (German Life Saving Association) of Constance in a stand-by duty during the Constance Lake Festival 2016 which is one of the largest annual events in Constance. This festival attracts 50,000 visitors for open-air live music, parties and one of the largest fireworks display. The duty spanned over twelve hours and the Corps members worked along DLRG members on various rescue boats over the lake where thousands of other boats came to view the fireworks display. This was a great opportunity for our members to learn how such a professional NGO operates and coordinates with other entities. During this event SJRC members also participated in the rescue of two adults and two children that fell into the lake after their boat sank.
