On Saturday 15th February, the St John Rescue Corps carried its Annual Review at its Headquarters and Training School at Fort Madalena.
The Corps was reviewed by the Hon. Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Emmanuel Mallia accompanied by the Commissioner of the Rescue Corps Captain the Chevalier Reuben Lanfranco. The Minister and distinguised guests followed two main rescue demonstrations. After the demonstrations the Hon. Minister and guests were given a tour of Fort Madalena. They were able to see a wide array of equipment which Corps members use during training and rescue operations.
The presentation of certificates was later held at the “Chevalier Vincent J Bugeja Lecture Hall” at the Fort. The certificates included First Aid, Medical Gases, AED, Fire Fighting Foundation and High-Angle Rescue. Members who have successfully completed the Recruitment Programme in 2013 were presented with the Rescue Volunteer Class I appointments. A number of officers were also awarded higher rank appointment certificates. The following members were awarded the Corps’ Medal of Merit:
